AGAIN, HAMEED ALI ABSENT AS HEADS OF MARITIME AGENCIES HOLD MONTHLY MEETING

The Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali was again conspicuously absent as heads of maritime agencies  met in Lagos,  agreeing to set up a timeline for 24 hour port operations. Also absent at the second scheduled monthly meeting which held at the Corporate Headquarters of NIMASA, was the Rector of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron Akwa Ibom State, Commodore Duja Effedua. After almost 13 years of an endless wait, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency  says it has finally secured approval for the disbursement of the controversial Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund. The Agency's helmsman,  Dr Bashir Jamoh  who broke the good news at a meeting with Shipowners in Lagos  said details for the disbursement  were being worked out. Parastatals under the Federal Ministry of Transportation have agreed on modalities for handling areas of overlap in their responsibilities.
