The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), in-charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), Joseph Egbunike, is dead. Egbunike, was reported to have slumped and died in his office at Area ten Garki, Abuja late hours Tuesday night. The deceased was an indigene of Onitsha, Anambra State, headed the Special Investigation Panel constituted by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, to investigate the suspended head of the Police Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, over money laundering allegations.

Embattled Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman has responded to the query issued her by the Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi. In the 23 page document obtained exclusively by Shipping World on Monday in Abuja, Hadiza Bala Usman cleared herself of any wrong doing. In a letter dated February 4 ,2022 and captioned " Re: Allegations of infractions Arising from the Report of the Administrative Panel of Inquiry into Activities of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) 2016 to 2021", the suspended MD took time to respond to the 21 grounds on which was found culpable by the panel headed by Mr Auwal Suleiman, the Director of Maritime Services at the Ministry of Transportation. Report The Ministerial Panel set up on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari to probe the infamous tenure of Hadiza Bala Usman as Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority, has at last turned in a report of "guilty as charged". Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has expressed dissatisfaction with comments credited to the Director General of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), Mr. Idris Musa, on the legality of the state's technical committee on the recent oil spill in Nembe Local Government Area of the state.
