Bayelsa State has said Tuesday’s verdict of the Supreme Court on the matter it instituted over the disputed oil wells with neighbouring Rivers State did not amount to a resolution of the dispute.
It also said contrary to reports in the media, the apex court’s verdict did not cede the oil wells or area to Rivers.
The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Ayibaina Duba, who gave the explanation on Friday, said the clarification was necessary in order to dispel erroneous reports and misinformation.

As Nigerians begin to take stock of loses occasioned by the nationwide ENDSARS protests, the Nigeria Shippers Council has sent a passionate appeal to Shipping Companies to apply waivers on demurage charges on cargo.
In a statement in Lagos on monday and signed by the Council's Head of Public Relations, Rakiya Zubairu, the Excutive Secretary of the Council, Hassan Bello, was quoted to have cautioned Shipping Companies and Terminal Operators against charging demurage during the period of the protest.
To ensure strict compliance with his directive, Hassan Bello has promised to embark on a surprise visit to some terminals to enforce compliance.

The League of Maritime Editors and Publishers Wednesday condemned the fire incident on the headquarters of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) linked to the ongoing ENDSARS protests nationwide.

Governor Douye Diri announced this on Wednesday shortly after the 9th State Executive Council meeting in Government House, Yenagoa.

Following the devastation caused by flood, the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has directed the immediate closure of all primary and secondary schools across the state.
A statement by the governor's Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, said the directive takes effect from Monday, October 19.
