NIMASA, NITT Sign MoU On Research , Training

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria, on research and training towards enhancing maritime safety and security in Nigeria. The Director General NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh, and his counterpart at the NITT, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, signed the MoU  over the weekend in Zaria which is hinged on research and training, with a view to enhancing local content and boosting the quality assurance of the institute. NIMASA BOARD ELEVATES 3 DEPUTY DIRECTORS, APPROVES PROMOTION OF 469

The Governing Board of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has approved the appointment of three new Directors, Mr. Otonye Obom, Captain Umoren Sunday Michael, and Mr. Kazir Abubakar Musa. The Directors were promoted along with Eighteen Deputy Directors and Twenty Assistant Directors. Four hundred and Thirty-One other staff were elevated to their next grade levels.The promotions were ratified at a meeting of the Governing Board of the Agency held at the NIMASA headquarters in Lagos. The Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, has directed the cancellation of the statewide environmental clean-up exercise earlier scheduled to hold on Saturday, July 30, 2022. This is to enable all eligible residents of the state that are yet to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) do so before the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) deadline expires on Sunday, July 31, 2022. The governor however urges all residents of the state to continue to keep their surroundings clean.

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has said the projects executed by local government councils in the state were as a result of the financial autonomy they enjoy under his administration. Senator Diri stated this on Tuesday during the commencement of inauguration of projects in seven of the eight councils in the state. Customs Area Controllers Tin Can Island,Comptroller Kunle Oloyede weekend said his Command has raised the bar in duty collection and trade facilitation adding that there are brighter prospects for the Nigeria Customs Service in the days ahead. Oloyede who was rolling out the mid year report of his Command posted a N274b revenue haul between January and June this year. The Customs Chief who explained that the figure was more than 27 percent leap over the same period last year also announced a 73 per cent increase in exports at the Port , posting a whopping 138,246.50 metric tons .Oloyede valued exports from the Command at over N100b.
