Bayelsa Distributes Relief Materials To Flood Victims

Bayelsa State Government, on Saturday, commenced distribution of relief materials to victims of flood-ravaged communities in the eight local government areas of the state. The distribution is in fulfillment of Governor Douye Diri's promise when he led top government functionaries on an on-the-spot assessment of flooded communities in the state. A statement by his Chief Press Secretary Mr. Daniel Alabrah, said the governor, who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Konbowei Benson, noted that the distribution was the government’s own way of cushioning the negative impact of flooding on the people. Victims of the November 13, 2019 dastardly attack on Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members and supporters in Ogbolomabiri-Nembe had cause to smile on Thursday night as the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, announced immediate employment for the survivors and relations of those that lost their lives. Governor Diri Directs Works Ministry To Fix Collapsed Bridge On Federal Road

Governor Douye Diri has directed the Bayelsa State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to repair the collapsed portion of the bridge on the Edepie-Otuasega-Imiringi road in Ogbia Local Government Area of the state. The governor, who gave the directive on Saturday during an inspection of the failed portion, said he asked the ministry to carry out remedial work on the federal road project as its users were Bayelsans that suffer the effect of the damage. The road, which links three local government areas in the state, was cut off by erosion on Wednesday leaving commuters stranded on both sides.
