A group of concerned stakeholders in the maritme sector which calls itself The Maritime Advocacy Initiative have threatened to institute a legal action against the Federal Government if the Presidency failed to reverse what it called an attempt to elongate the tenure Hadiza Bala Usman through the back door. The 5 year tenure of Hadiza Bala Usman as Managing Director of Nigeria Ports Authority would expire in June The group said in a statement in Lagos obtained exclusively by Shipping World that whereas Mr President reserves the right to appoint anyone of his choice into a public office as enshrined in the 1999 constitution as ammended, renewing her tenure five months before its expiration makes the exercise of that power a nullity. Spokesman for the group, Capt Ishola Kehinde asked ...

Onne Port Without INTELS : Is this an omelette without eggs?

Breaking News, Opinion
About twenty years, a handful of colleagues and I went on a visit to a mass of virgin swamp at Onne. We were taken on that visit by Engineer Wali Ahmed who remains in history as the best MD the Nigerian Ports Authority ever had . The visit was a follow up to an MoU the NPA had entered into with NICOTES Nig Ltd on a Build , Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis. It was a mass of very difficult terrain isolated by ponds. We had to park our buses several meters away to enable us access the land by foot. My colleagues and I wondered why any right-thinking businessman would take such a risk in ploughing his hard earned resources in a venture which to many of us did not look realistic. But these officials looked optimistic as they took time to explain the great potential this virgin forest had in...

INTELS collected naira bills in dollars— Stakeholders

As Nigerians await patiently for the outcome of the lucrative boat pilotage contract which INTELS monopolized for almost two decades, more facts have emerged on how the Logistics giants fraudulently ripped off Nigerian importers. Chief Reginald Amadi ,the Spokesman for the Edo/ Delta chapter if the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents revealed that was wrong for INTELS to collect dollar payments for local transactions. He said , " I think INTELS got into trouble because they went beyond the brief of the agreement, they took things for granted. I think NPA just found out that INTELS was deviating from its obligations and decided to wield the big stick', he said. Chief Amadi said it was not true that 11,000 jobs would be lost if INTELS lost the contract insisting there were o...

Said Goje in an SMS: ' It is a whole process which has to be discussed and addressed by management '. Ms Hadiza NPA's  helmswoman, had over the week end responded to claims that IN...
