Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has said despite protest from some quarters, the removal of the paramount ruler of Otuokpoti community in Ogbia Local Government Area, Chief Cousin Wongo, is irrevocable. Governor Diri, on Monday, announced the monarch's dethronement as well as the removal of the community development committee chairman and its youth president as a result of their complicity in the kidnap of the Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investment, Mr. Federal Otokito, from his residence in the community. I’ll Ensure My Kidnapped Commissioner Is Released Unhurt — Gov Diri

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has assured that no stone would be left unturned to ensure the release of his Trade and Investment Commissioner, Mr. Federal Otokito, who was kidnapped a few days ago. The governor called for his immediate and unconditional release by his abductors, stressing that the state's laws against kidnapping would be followed to the letter against them. Mr. Otokito was kidnapped last Thursday night from his residence in Otuokpoti, his hometown in Ogbia Local Government Area of the state. Bayelsa State government has constituted a technical committee over the recent oil spill at the OML 29 Santa Barbara River wellhead in Nembe Local Government Area of the state. The platform, which is operated by Aiteo Exploration and Production Company Limited, had a blowout of gas and crude oil that lasted about 38 days before it was killed.
