The Federal Ministry of Transportation (FMOT), in collaboration with Nigerian Shippers' Council (NSC) is organizing a sensitization programme on some functions of the council.
The programme, which will be chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, is scheduled to hold Friday 22nd, July, 2022 at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, by 9.00am.
The theme of the programme "Port Economic Regulator - NSC in Focus” is aimed at enlightening the stakeholders and the general public on the mandate of Nigerian Shippers' Council as Port Economic Regulator.

The International Maritime Bureau (IMB) in its half-year report of 2022 has lauded the reduction in piracy in the globe and expressed optimism that it is a new dawn for the shipping community globally. This is coming on the heels of the Bureau receiving the lowest number of reported incidents for the first half of the year since 1994, evidencing its efforts in raising awareness to make the waters safe globally.

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has congratulated the two state teams that emerged champions of the just-concluded Nestle Milo National Secondary Schools Basketball Championship in Lagos.
The St. Jude’s Girls Model School, Amarata-Yenagoa won in the female category for a record seventh time while in the male category, Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, Ovom-Yenagoa, became champions for the first time.

There was celebration in Nembe and Brass local government areas of Bayelsa State on Thursday as the long-awaited road project linking both riverine councils was flagged off by the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, at Nembe.
The project, which is one of the three senatorial roads in the state, had been on the drawing board of successive administrations in the country from the colonial era in the 1940s.
The Governor Douye Diri administration, which made it one of its campaign promises to people of the area, revived the project with the first phase of 21km and 10 bridges awarded to Setraco Nigeria Limited for N54.1billion.
