The Murtala Muhammed Airport Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service generated a total of forty eight billion naira (N48b) as against a target of sixty nine billion (N69b), recording a shortfall of about twenty two billion (N22b) at the close of business in 2017. This figure represent 69 per cent of the target given for the preceding year. Anti-smuggling operations of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NSC), Ikeja, Lagos, rose to a crescendo in the month of November when the unit intercepted contraband goods worth N2.5billion. The smuggled items include 64 assorted vehicles of two bullet-proof Lexus Jeep, one bullet proof Toyota Land Cruiser, nine Toyota Hilux, eight Toyota Hilux buses, 26 Toyota Corolla, nine Land Cruiser Jeep. Others include five Toyota Camry, one Land Rover, one Nissan Sentra, one Pajero Jeep, one Sienna 2015 model and one Lexus RX 350. THE Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has cancelled the promotion examination recently conducted for senior officers from the rank of Assistant Comptroller to Deputy Comptroller over irregularities noticed in the conduct of the examination. The Comptroller General of the Service, Col Hameed Ali (rtd), according to an internal circular, ordered the cancellation of the recently conducted promotion examination for officers moving from the rank of Assistant Comptroller to Deputy Comptroller over alleged malpractices. The Anti-smuggling unit of the Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operating Unit (FOU) Zone “A” is collaborating with sister security agencies to combat smuggling activities and generated revenue for the federal government as the Christmas celebration draws closer. Men of the Federal Operations Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service Ikeja weekend took their fight against Car smugglers to the door steps of auto dealers when it raided auto marts in Festac and Ikoyi , Lagos .
