There are indications that the Federal Government may have approved a new salary structure for staffers of the Nigerian Ports Authority, sources at the Federal Ministry of Transportation has confirmed to Shipping World. Usually dependable sources told this magazine that the former Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi, had upon an application by the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority,Mohammed Bello Koko, approved an upward review of the salaries of workers of the Agency . This officer and other members of that team from FOU Zone 'C' have since been withdrawn from patrol duties and are currently under administrative investigation at the NCS Zonal Headquarters Zone 'C' Port Harcourt. Industry watchers were shocked when in July 2016, Ms Hadiza Bala Usman was named Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). She thus became the first woman in the history of the agency to be appointed into that exalted office.
