Ministerial list received by the Senate from President Muhammadu BUHARI

Breaking News, News Feature, Politics
The name of the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman, who was being tipped for a Ministerial Appointment, was conspicuously missing in the 43 names nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari. Unlike during his first term when he appointed only 36 ministers — one per state — he has decided to also appoint one per geo-political zone, bringing the total to 43, TheCable understands. The list was sent to the senate on Monday evening via executive communication and is expected to be read on the floor of the senate on Tuesday. The senate, which will be proceeding on a two-month recess on Thursday, is expected to screen the nominees. Contrary to speculations, only about 12 ministers will be re-appointed from the former cabinet. Meanwhile, the senate pre...

‘BUHARIWATCH: OUR PRESIDENT IS PROCRASTINATING AGAIN’

News Feature, Opinion, Politics
Inside Stuff With MARTINS OLOJA This is not a time for sycophancy and political correctness. Nor is it a time to hide some truth in a grave. It is a time to shout it to the nation and the ruling party big men that our president is procrastinating again! So, this is not healthy for Nigeria, a country that a whole continent and indeed the Black race have been waiting for, as a source of pride, inspiration and confidence. This is also a time to repeat a classic in which Winston Churchill in the late 1936 warned in the House of Commons, ‘The era of procrastination, of half measures, of soothing and baffling expedients, of delays is coming to its close. In its place we are entering a period of consequences’. Oh yes, this is a time to lament the procrastination, half measures, soothing...

In petition dated, July 8,2019 authored by Okunrintemi’s lawyer, Bob James, to President Buhari, James attributed his client’s travails to Abdullahi, who he said was the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authori...

News Feature: Nigerians and the Cannibals of Libya

Breaking News, Law, News Feature
By Sylvanus Ekpo, Tina Edogor The slave markets of Libya are abuzz with young Nigerian slaves who are tortured, humiliated and eventually sold off on the auction block for a few, miserable dollars. While some are held in detention centres waiting to be deported, the not-so-lucky ones are roasted as suya and their body parts serve as barbecue for the cannibals of Libya. Once a thriving nation, Libya was ruled by Col. Muamar Gaddafi, who took power in 1969 in a bloodless revolution. He used the oil wealth of his country to improve healthcare, free education, free housing and a strong economy. Millions of impoverished peoples around the world flocked to Libya in search of the good life. Nigerians, tired of bad governance and failed promises, saw that country as the next best destinatio...
