Pioneer Airlines commences maiden flight to Yenagoa….Douye Diri says its a dream come true

On Monday, May 25, 2026, Pioneer Airlines commenced non-scheduled flight operations with one of the aircraft acquired by the Bayelsa State government, an ATR 72-600. The historic flight into the world of commercial aviation was flown by Captain M. Ibrahim and First Officer Joyce, a female co-pilot, in the cockpit. The aircraft taxied off the tarmac of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 11:00hrs and, following clearance from the control tower, was airborne at 11:10hrs en route the Bayelsa International Airport. The Governor of Bayelsa State , Sen Douye Diri, has debunked the rumours making rounds of his plans to leave the PDP. Senator Diri spoke over the weekend where he advised the public to see such speculations as baseless and untrue . The Bayelsa helmsman made it clear to the press that " if there be any decision to join another party comes up in future, it will be done with the consent of Bayelsans who elected him". Meanwhile, the Governor has scheduled an inter-L.G.A thank you tour begining with Brass on Monday 16, June 2025, aimed to appreciate Bayelsans for electing him and his Deputy for second term precisely on November 11, 2023 Gubernatorial Elections . Bayelsa State Governor, Sen Douye Diri, yesterday in Lagos received an award as the Most Maritime Friendly Governor at the 27th Edition of the Maritime Industry Merit AWARD, MIMA , which held at the Ball Room of Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos. Gov Douye Diri who was represented by the Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government, Prof Nibofa Ayawei, reiterated the commitment of his administration in harnessing the full potentials of the Marine and Blue Economy. He appealed to prospective investors to take advantage of the abundant marine resources in Bayelsa State. Also in attendance at the event was the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy, Dr Faith Zibs Godwin.

Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri, has raised the alarm about a plot to breach the peace of the state,using a pro Wike " Mega Rally " as a ploy.
