Ekiti-born Olubolade Was A Bayelsan, Says Gov Diri Names Civil Servants Quarters After Late Military Administrator

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has described the late former Military Administrator of the state, Navy Capt. Omoniyi Caleb Olubolade (rtd), as an indigene due to his love for the state and its people. Governor Diri also said the retired Naval officer and former Minister of Special Duties, who died on May 15, 2025 at the age of 71, served the state and Nigeria with a lot of dedication and selflessness. Olubolade was appointed as the third military administrator of Bayelsa from June 27, 1997 – July 9, 1998 after the state was created by the late military Head of State, Gen. The Pan Niger Delta Forum ( PANDEF )has pleaded with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sign into an Act the bill for the South-South Commission with the same speed he signed others. Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has described the death of Mr. Tony Uranta, executive secretary of foremost advocacy group, United Niger Delta Energy Development and Security Strategy (UNDEDSS), as a painful loss to Nigeria, Niger Delta and indeed the Ijaw nation. Mr. Uranta, who was a member of the defunct Federal Government Technical Committee on Niger Delta, the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) among others, passed on Wednesday after a protracted illness.
