The Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali was again conspicuously absent as heads of maritime agencies  met in Lagos,  agreeing to set up a timeline for 24 hour port operations. After almost 13 years of an endless wait, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency  says it has finally secured approval for the disbursement of the controversial Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund. The Agency's helmsman,  Dr Bashir Jamoh  who broke the good news at a meeting with Shipowners in Lagos  said details for the disbursement  were being worked out. Dr Jamoh also announced that the December  2020 deadline for Single-hull Tanker Ban would not be extended. Parastatals under the Federal Ministry of Transportation have agreed on modalities for handling areas of overlap in their responsibilities.
