The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dr Bashir Jamoh, has reiterated that assets deployed under the Deep Blue Project, recently launched by President Muhammadu Buhari, are manned by proficient officers from the Nigerian security services. President Buhari Launches Deep Blue Project in Lagos. • Simulation Exercises Ongoing

President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR will on Thursday June 10, 2021 in Lagos perform the official launch of the assets under the Integrated National Security and Waterways Protection Infrastructure also known as the Deep Blue Project. Preparatory to the launch, the Maritime Security Unit (MSU) of the Deep Blue Project comprising personnel from the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police and Department of State Services are conducting simulation exercises for the event on the land, air and sea assets of the Project to confirm their readiness for full deployment. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike ,has commended the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for designing and pursuing a Blue Economy strategy purposed to replace the current oil economy in about 10 years. Wike stated this in Port Harcourt, when he received the Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, who was on a courtesy visit. As Nigeria gets set to deploy maritime security assets acquired under the Integrated National Security and Waterways Protection Infrastructure, members of the Deep Blue Project Steering Committee have visited Lagos, Warri, Benin, and Onne to inspect the assets at the various locations. The delegation, led by Minister of Defence, Maj-Gen. Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd), included Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, and Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas.
