There are indications that the Federal Government may have approved a new salary structure for staffers of the Nigerian Ports Authority, sources at the Federal Ministry of Transportation has confirmed to Shipping World. Usually dependable sources told this magazine that the former Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi, had upon an application by the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority,Mohammed Bello Koko, approved an upward review of the salaries of workers of the Agency . Amaechi signs contract for Kano /Dutse Rail line

Today, the Federal Ministry of Transportation made history with the signing of the contract documents for the commencement of the Kano-Maradi, Kano-Dutse railway project. Parastatals under the Federal Ministry of Transportation have agreed on modalities for handling areas of overlap in their responsibilities. Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh, disclosed this in Lagos after a meeting of heads of the parastatals at the headquarters of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC).
