Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has expressed the willingness of the state to partner the European Union towards ensuring security in the Gulf of Guinea. Speaking in Abuja on Monday when he played host to a delegation on maritime security from the European Union, Governor Diri said as the state with the longest coastline in Nigeria, Bayelsa is interested in collaborations that will help it secure its maritime area and harness the resources therein. *SWAIMS PARTNERS NPA ON MARITIME SECURITY AND SAFETY*

Maritime security experts under the aegis of the ‘’Support for West African Maritime Security’’ (SWAIMS), has pledged to partner the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to address maritime security and safety within the country's waters. The group, affiliated to the European Union, provides support to ECOWAS Countries and Mauritania in the drive to fight against piracy and related crimes in the sub-region offered its technical assistance on the anti-piracy and nautical security services, among others.
