The Delta State House of Assembly has passed the Prohibiting Open Grazing, indiscriminate Breeding, Rearing and Marketing of Livestock in Delta State, otherwise known as Anti-Open grazing bill. The Bill was passed following a motion by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon Ferguson Ajiroghene Onwo, and adopted during today's resumed plenary of the State Legislature, presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Sherrif Oborevwori. The coming of the Nigeria Maritime University was instrumental in bringing about peace and reconciliation in the Niger Delta following a period of fierce agitation for economic justice in the region. Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, stated this in Asaba during a courtesy visit by Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh.
