Delta Local Government Elections: We won fair and square across Delta State – PDP

Politics
DELTA LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS: WE WON FAIR AND SQUARE ACROSS DELTA STATE - PDP We have read with a huge sense of amusement, the spurious, unfounded and even in some reports, utterly nonsensical rantings of some identified chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC over the January 6, 2018 Delta State Local Government elections. To us, these comments are nothing more than the typical whining and bellyaching always expected from sore losers, as a diversionary ploy and smokescreen to cover up their obviously pathetic lack of preparation for the Delta Council polls. We are extremely disappointed but not particularly surprised with the comments of Olorogun O'tega Emerhor, Delta APC leader and former governorship candidate, made from the cozy comforts and surrounding of his cou...

Breaking News, Politics
Following news of his purported re-appointment as campaign manager for the re-election of President Buhari, a few days ago, the Minister of Transportation Mr Rotimi Amaechi seems to have some hurdles to overcome. Reports from ALEDEH an online news source authoritatively reports that the APC governors met Thursday 4th of January in Abuja where the Campaign team had requested some contribution from the governors towards a successful campaign. The news organisation gathered that Mr Amaechi had relayed to the governors a decision for each to contribute the sum of fifty million Naira a request that was rejected by 13 of the governors. Those who rejected were of the opinion that they would want to hear “directly from President Buhari” before they will contribute. Two of the governors q...

Nigerians tear president apart for appointing dead folks into boards

Politics
When president Muhammadu Buhari announced the appointment of 209 board chairmen and 1,258 board members late Friday, dead folks also made the cut. It’s an embarrassment that has since gripped the nation and got everyone on social media talking. Chief Donald Ugbaja who was appointed member of the Consumer Protection Council (CPC), died on the 29th of November, 2017. Reverend Christopher Utov who was appointed member of the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research, died in March of 2017. But that didn’t stop Utov—once the proprietor of Fidei Polytechnic—from getting a job in the president's bureaucracy. Francis Okpozo, a second republic senator and a former member of the BoT (Board of Trustees) of the APC, was appointed board chairman of the Nigerian Press Council. ...

NIMASA did not spend anything close to N300m at IMO Election…Bashir Jamoh

Maritime, Politics
Mallam Bashir Jamoh , Executive Director Finance and Administration at NIMASA, has said the maritime press goofed over claims that the agency spent a whooping N300m at the just concluded IMO Council meeting. ' I think the media got it all wrong. What NIMASA spent for the entire trip and the campaign was far less than N300m being peddled by the media', he said. It would be recalled that Nigerian for the third consecutive year failed to secure a seat in Category 'C' of the recent IMO Council Election in which five African countries got elected. African countries which came out at the election include Liberia, Kenya, Morocco, South Africa and Egypt. The loss was a huge dent on Nigeria's status as the current Chairman of African Maritime Administrators. Jamoh explained given Nigeria'...

Ex-President Jonathan Replies Gov. Shettima on Chibok Girls

Politics
The media adviser to former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze has responded to a statement by Borno Governor Kashim Shettima where he accused the ex-President of bad governance and poor choices, dismissing the Governor’s claims as parochial and jaundiced. In a statement issued on Friday Jonathan’s spokesman strongly debunked the allegations of poor governance and highlighted Jonathan’s key achievements which he said were yet to be matched. He further challenged the Governor to come clean over the roles he played in the kidnap of the Chibok school girls, stressing that it goes beyond the dismissive claim that “Jonathan thought I kidnapped Chibok girls.” The statement said: “He should be able to tell us if it was Jonathan’s poor choices that led the Governor to ex...
