President Muhammadu Buhari, through the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has vowed to comply with the order of a Federal High Court, which directed him to recover monies being paid to former Governors that are currently serving as Senators and Ministers. The AGF said this in a statement made available to Journalists by his Media Aide, Dr. Umar Gwandu. He then walked towards Customs and was stopped. An officer pointed out he was carrying a pack that suggested he bought a pair of shoes abroad. He confirmed he did. He was asked to produce the shoes. The Federal University, Otuoke (FUO), Bayelsa State, will, on Septem 21, hold its maiden convocation ceremony for 1,121 graduands, with 72 of them in First Class category. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Seth Accra-Jaja, who disclosed this at a news conference on Thursday at Otuoke, said the event was part of the activities marking the maiden convocation ceremony of the institution. He said out of the 1,121 graduands, 72 will be awarded first class, 462, second class upper, 503, second class lower and 84, third class degrees. “The ceremony would be a combined convocation of students who graduated during the last three academic sessions of the university,” he said. The proposed Lekki Deep Sea Port at the Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos state, Nigeria. The Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) has recommended the connection of all Port Terminals to the national rail network. It said this would facilitate fast actualization and commencement of operations at the proposed Lekki Deep Sea Port at the Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos state. The ICRC Director-General, Mr Chidi Chidi Izuwah, gave the recommendation during a monitoring visit by a joint delegation from the Commission and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to the site. The Nigerian Shippers’ Council, NSC, yesterday disclosed that it has slashed port charges by 34 percent thereby redirecting Nigerian bound cargoes hitherto diverted to ports of neighbouring countries. Speaking at the third annual Ministerial stakeholders meeting in Lagos, Executive Secretary of the Council, Mr. Hassan Bello said that the processing of further production is ongoing.
