Our Projects Not Shrouded In Secrecy – Bayelsa Govt

News Feature, Politics
We have read the scurrilous claims, circulating largely online, by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Perekeme Kpodoh, against the government of His Excellency Senator Douye Diri. In the report, Chief Kpodoh alleged that the cost of projects being executed by the Bayelsa State government was shrouded in secrecy and that the contractors were unknown. One leg of this claim is laughable. Contractors and even consultants involved in a road or building project are often displayed on boards at project sites. Only those with ocular issues or bent on mischief cannot see them. The road, building and other projects undertaken by the Governor Diri administration, which Kpodoh could not deny, are clearly visible and not done under the cover of darkness. But, importantly...

Baring any last minute changes, Mrs OLUYEMISI OYINLOLA, one of the most experienced and best hands in the legal department of Nigeria Ports Authority, NPA, would assume duty as General Manager Corporate Communications and Strategy, to take over from Mallam Ibrahim Nasir, who has proceeded on his mandatory retirement vacation. But for this surprise posting, MRS OYINLOLA was being touted as most suitable for the post of General Manager , Legal Services/ Company Secretary. Industry watchers are yet to come to terms with this development as there are competent and experienced hands within the system that would ha...

On April 14, 1912, Capt John Edward Smith, Capt of RMS Titanic ,took his cruise vessel on a mission of no return when the vessel hit an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean. At the end of the Voyage, no fewer than 1,500 lost their lives in a journey that had over 2 ,400 on board. Exactly 106 years later on April 14, 2018,Tony Iju Nwabunike took over 3000 Freight Forwarders on 4 year journey onboard MV ANLCA. At the end of trip, there was hardly any survivor as Capt Tony Iju Nwabunike had abandoned his role as Master even before MV ANLCA got to its final destination. While it is customary for the master to be last to leave the Ship in case of a disaster, the exact opposite was the case in what has been termed ANLCA House of Commotion. There is no better way to capture this scenario than the ass...
