Governor Douye Diri has directed the Bayelsa State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to repair the collapsed portion of the bridge on the Edepie-Otuasega-Imiringi road in Ogbia Local Government Area of the state. The governor, who gave the directive on Saturday during an inspection of the failed portion, said he asked the ministry to carry out remedial work on the federal road project as its users were Bayelsans that suffer the effect of the damage. Bayelsa State has said Tuesday’s verdict of the Supreme Court on the matter it instituted over the disputed oil wells with neighbouring Rivers State did not amount to a resolution of the dispute. It also said contrary to reports in the media, the apex court’s verdict did not cede the oil wells or area to Rivers. The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Bayelsa State Government, on Monday, said it has distributed the foodstuff and other palliative items it received as donations in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in the country. It also explained that the government was not hoarding food items in any warehouse in the state.
