Hon. Minister of state for Petroleum Resources, H.E Timipre Sylva, on Saturday hailed the late Ibedaowei of Kolokuma Kingdom and one of the Founding Fathers of Bayelsa State, HRM Geoffrey Filinti Aganaba as a solid, refined character on the occasion of the monarch’s 25th anniversary of his passing.
Sylva, who was represented by his Special Assistant on Media And Public Affairs Julius Bokoru, at the Banquet Hall of Creek Haven, Yenagoa, described King Aganaba as a man of excellence who was not just a major founding figure of the state but a moral and intellectual icon as well.
Sylva prayed for a continuation of King Aganaba’s legacies and appealed that Bayelsans and Nigerians add more value to traditional institutions as they define us as a people, protect our cultures and traditions and aid government in the steep task of governance.
A teacher, agric enthusiast, Izon rights advocate, a king and public intellectual, HRM Aganaba was crowned the Ibedaowei of Kolokuma in 1972 and served the kingdom in that capacity for 25 years.
