As Nigerians begin to take stock of loses occasioned by the nationwide ENDSARS protests, the Nigeria Shippers Council has sent a passionate appeal to Shipping Companies to apply waivers on demurage charges on cargo.
In a statement in Lagos on monday and signed by the Council’s Head of Public Relations, Rakiya Zubairu, the Excutive Secretary of the Council, Hassan Bello, was quoted to have cautioned Shipping Companies and Terminal Operators against charging demurage during the period of the protest.
To ensure strict compliance with his directive, Hassan Bello has promised to embark on a surprise visit to some terminals to enforce compliance.
