Hajia Lami Tumaka is a global public relations manager and holds a Bachelor of art degree in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.
An indigene of Niger State, Hajia Tumaka was born in Kaduna but later moved to Lagos where she started her primary education.
In the pursuit of her professional career, she also acquired other qualifications including certificate in basic film production from TV College Jos with distinction and diploma in public relations from the prestigious Holborn College London.
Hajia Tumaka’s working career which spans over three decades started at the Army Day secondary school, Jaji as a teacher. She was at various times the news editor, NTA Minna, Public Relations Manager Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN) Limited Kaduna before joining the services of the National Maritime Authority (NMA) as a chief research officer in 1998.
She has headed the public relations unit of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) at three different times. On two of those occasions she was called upon to remedy the agency’s image which had reached an all time low
She has also served the agency in various capacities and at various times in the maritime guard command, servicom, administration and human resources, shipping development as well as planning research and data management services. Hajia Tumaka is currently the Director, Special Duties in charge of external relations and technical cooperation in the office of the Director General.
In april 2016, envancermichael.com, a popular website founded by Evan Carmichael , a Toronto based entrepreneur named Hajia Tumaka amongst the top 100 global public Relations Managers for which she is widely known.
Hajia Lami Tumaka is also a recipient of the Maritime Media woman of the year 2011 and the best maritime industry public relations officer 2011 through a poll among several other honours.
A woman with a humane disposition and a track record of achievement in all her endeavours, Hajia Tumaka holds the trio of honesty, commitment and hard work as the pillars that support her every engagement.
Hajia Lami Tumaka, a happy grandmother, is a fellow of the Nigerian institute of Public Relations (FNIPR) and also has membership of other professional bodies including Soroptomist International, Womens’ International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria, Niger State media women association amongst others.
