This was disclosed in Lagos during a meeting between the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh, and Consul General, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nigeria, Kim In-Taek. Both countries have maintained good maritime and trade relations since the 1980s. Executive Secretary and CEO, Hassan Bello Mearsk Line Nigeria Ltd has bowed to pressure and reversed an earlier introduction of peak season charge.  The reversal followed an intervention by Hassan Bello,  Executive Secretary, Nigerian Shippers' Council. In a statement in Lagos, Mearsk Line said it has instructed its commercial department to suspend the controversial charge effective September 1, 2020. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has activated the newly inaugurated Bayelsa State Molecular Laboratory, Research and Diagnostic Centre as a COVID testing laboratory in the country. Governor Douye Diri The facility, which was inaugurated by Governor Douye Diri on Tuesday, brought the number of NCDC accredited laboratories in the country to 66 in 34 states.
