As the premier command of the Nigeria Customs Service, headship of Apapa Area Command of the Service is usually reserved for the all round best in terms of experience, professionalism and ability to carry out government fiscal policies to the letter. It is for the best of the best. And it was no surprise therefore that the lot fell on Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba when Customs Comptroller General , Bashir Adewale Adeniyi decided to shop for a new helmsman at the Command in September 2025 following the promotion and subsequent transfer of Babatunde Olomu . Oshoba didnt take time to prove to his bosses in Abuja that he meant business, and that his appointment wasnt a fluke.
With emphasis focused on inter agency collaboration, blocking of leakages and strict adherance to stakeholders compliance, it is on record that Oshoba with just a month in office in October 2025 recorded a collection of N304 billion, the highest by any Customs command in a single month. His open door policy, listening ears , stakeholders say remained the hallmark of his adminstration as he approaches his first 12 months in office in September, 2026. With barely 9 months in the saddle as Customs Ares Controller, Apapa Compt Oshoba has shattered all records prior to his appointment either in terms of revenue generation or seizures. Only the sky will be his limit if the key performance index,KPIs set for him are anything to go by .
