The Vice Chancellor of Nigeria’s premier Maritime University, Professor Emmanuel Adigio, will be Guest Lecturer at the Shipping World magazine Achievers AWARDS billed to hold on Tuesday, December 1st at the Balmoral Convention Center Federal Palace hotel Victoria Island, Lagos. Prof Emmanuel Munakurogha Adigio was born into the family of Chief ( Major ) Benson. A. Adigio of blessed memory.
He grew up in the rough and tumble of the barracks of the Royal West African Frontier Force as his parents moved from one army barracks to another. The young Emmanuel Adigio and his siblings were educated at the famous Nembe National Grammar School, Nembe in Nembe Local Council Area of Bayelsa State. He later enrolled at College of Science and Technology( now Rivers State University)for a remedial program before being admitted to study Mechanical Engineering. In 1979, he proceeded to the Lille, France for his Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He returned to Nigeria in 1984, after turning down several mouth watering offers from the French Government . He obtained his PhD , Mechanical Engineering Loughborough University, Leicestershire, After his mandatory one year Youth Service program, the young Emmanuel Adigio worked as milling engineer at Rivers State owned Oil Palm Company, Risonpalm Nigeria Ltd and served in various top management positions. Between 1998 and 2000, he was lead consultant and General Manager, Oak Oil Mill, Omoku , Rivers.
In 2002, he joined the academia when he took up appointment as a senior Lecturer at the Niger Delta University, in Amassoma, Bayelsa State . A financial member of COREN, Professor Emmanuel Adigio was appointed Vice Chancellor of Nigerian Maritime University Okerenkoko, Delta State by President Muhammadu Buhari in June 12, 2020
