Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has described as draconian the National Water Resources Bill before the National Assembly, saying it would have adverse effect on the predominantly maritime state if it is passed into law. Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has described the late Madam Patricia Igali, mother of one of Nigeria’s foremost diplomats, Ambassador Boladei Igali, as a woman whose departure would be greatly missed. Governor Diri stated this on Tuesday when he led a high-powered delegation on a condolence visit to the Igali family in Yenagoa, the state capital. The governor said although the deceased lived to 84 years, no age was ripe enough to lose a loved one, especially a virtuous woman like Madam Igali. The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria, on research and training towards enhancing maritime safety and security in Nigeria. The Director General NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh, and his counterpart at the NITT, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, signed the MoU over the weekend in Zaria which is hinged on research and training, with a view to enhancing local content and boosting the quality assurance of the institute.
