Specifically, the agency was created, among others, to provide regulations that are related to Nigerian Shipping, Maritime Labour, Safety and Security in our waters. NIMASA, as the apex maritime agency, has failed in almost all of its duties from the administration of the activities to the clearance and security of the seafarers. EFCC Cannot Investigate Or Prosecute Judges – Appeal Court

Court of Appeal just delivered a well researched judgment, which they anchored on the separation of power between the three arms of government in the matter Hon. Justice Ngajiwa vs. FRN. They said EFCC does not have power to investigate and prosecute serving judicial officers without first being dismissed by NJC That serving judicial officers can only be prosecuted for offences like murder, stealing etc done outside the discharge of their duties. That once the offence was committed in the discharge of their duties, they must be tried by NJC first and dismissed before EFCC can investigate or prosecute them. $100 billion Ship building Fund: Ship Owners may drag Amaechi before Buhari

The Nigerian Ship Owners Association (NSOA) is set to drag the Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, before President Muhammad Buhari over the refusal of the Nigerian Maritime Administration & Safety Agency (NIMASA) to commence the disbursement of the Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund (CVFF). Amaechi, Ship Owners Fight Dirty over N100b Vessel Financing Fund

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on Thursday announced that he will not disburse the Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund (CVFF), dashing the hopes and expectation of indigenous ship owners, who have been waiting for the disbursement of the fund for more than a decade. Mallam Bashir Jamoh , Executive Director Finance and Administration at NIMASA, has said the maritime press goofed over claims that the agency spent a whooping N300m at the just concluded IMO Council meeting. ' I think the media got it all wrong. What NIMASA spent for the entire trip and the campaign was far less than N300m being peddled by the media', he said.
