The nation\u2019s Port Economic Regulator, Nigerian Shippers\u2019 Council in collaboration with Union of African Shippers\u2019 Councils (UASC) will hold the 9th edition of African Shippers\u2019 Day in Lagos from Monday 16th January 2023 to Wednesday 18th January, 2023 at Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.<\/p>\n
The programme, with the theme \u2018\u2018African Continental Free Trade Agreement: A Veritable Platform for African Shippers to Mainstream into Global Trade\u2019\u2019, will be declared open by His
\nExcellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR while Engr. Mu\u2019Azu Jaji Sambo, the Honourable Minister of Transportation is the Chief host.<\/p>\n
The Secretary General, African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), Mr. Wamkele Mene
\nis expected to make a presentation on the topic \u2018\u2018AfCFTA: Vehicle for Africa\u2019s Economic Growth & Development\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n
Other speakers are the Secretary General, International Chamber of Commerce Nigeria (ICCN), Mrs. Olubunmi Osuntuyi who will speak on \u2018\u2018The Role of INCOTERMS 2020 in the Implementation \u00a0of African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA)\u2019\u2019 and Mr. Nwachukwu Remigus, Manager, Trade Finance, African Export-Import Bank will make a presentation speak on \u2018\u2018Payment Systems \u00a0in International Trade\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n
The African Shippers\u2019 Day is primarily aimed at creating a forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences amongst shippers\u2019 organizations in the West and Central African Sub-regions, discussions on issues that will improve maritime trade, and disseminating information on the role of Shippers\u2019 Councils and UASC.<\/p>\n
The event will be attended by member countries of the Union of African Shippers\u2019 Councils as well as other countries maintaining associate status with the Union, Shippers and maritime stakeholders.<\/p>\n
It may be recalled that Ghana hosted the 8th edition of African Shippers\u2019 Day in 2021<\/p>\n
