Emmanuel Jime, Executive Secretary\/CEO, Nigerian Shippers\u2019 Council to the Union\u2019s Secretariat.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Com. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Adewale <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Adeyanju, President <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">General<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, (MWUN)<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> welcomed the management of NSC, commend<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ing<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Shippers\u2019 <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Council for <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">its various<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> efforts in the maritime industry<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">In the course of<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> the discussion<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">s<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, the issue of the ongoing shutdown of AP Moller Terminal in Apapa<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">came up. Comrade Adeyanju expressed disappointment <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">in the attitude of APM Terminal<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">management<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> specifically the \u201cHire &amp; Fire\u201d<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> system. He also complained about the poor retirement package APMT gives its employees<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Also speaking at the meeting was District chairman, APMT, Com. Tunde Balogun<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> who <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">spoke about<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> APM Terminal<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u2019s<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> employ<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ment<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> of<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> foreign workers instead of Nigerians, demotion of staff in order to accommodate expatriates in higher positions of the organization<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">and the<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> employment of inexperienced workers to high positions in the organization<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">. Emmanuel Jime, Executive Secretary\/CEO, Nigerian Shippers\u2019 Council, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, President-General, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Ms. Ifeoma Ezedinma, Director Regulatory Services, Nigerian Shippers\u2019 Council, Mr. Mutiu Ojetunde, Assistant Director Complaints Unit, Nigerian Shippers\u2019 Council, and Comrade Felix Akingboye, Secretary-General of MWUN, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ES\/CEO, NSC pledged to engage the management of APMT with a view <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">to resolving the<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> issues<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">He <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">also ple<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ade<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">d with the President General of the MWUN for some more time in order to achieve these. This was followed by a response from the President General who said that the Union would <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">look into <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">the<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">request<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">. He described Hon.
