Port functional, and to decongest the Lagos Ports<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">,<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) is to engage the services of <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Akewa<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> Colmar Terminal Limited (ACTL) to move containers from Lagos Ports to Onitsha River Port via <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Burutu<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> Port in Delta State.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s8\"><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">The idea of hauling containers via <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Burutu<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> Ports to Onitsha River port is to deliberately avoid the two small bridges <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">of <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Gbarekolo<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> and <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Bumandi<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Because <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">the two bridges are too tiny and shallow for sea moving badges or vessels to ply <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">through, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">that is why the company (ACTL) is considering the<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> route from<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> Lagos Ports to <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Burutu<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> P<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ort then to Onitsha<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> River P<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ort as final destination.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s11\"><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">The Managing Director of NIWA Chief Dr. George <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Moghalu<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> disclosed that <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">NIWA is targeting about 1,000 containers to<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> be hauled per trip from Lagos Ports to Onitsha River Port <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">within the<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> maximum <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">duration <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">of 4 days.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s11\"><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">The MD also added that NIWA is engaging Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) and other stakeholders to facilitate the commencement of the Cargo haulage.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s11\"><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Earlier, the Chairman of <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Akewa<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> Colmar Terminal Limited (ACTL) Chief Kenneth <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Donye<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> during the proposal defense at NIWA Liaison Office Abuja before the Management <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">team of NIWA, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">expressed the readiness of his Company to partner with NIWA in carrying out this noble and historic transshipment from Lagos Ports via <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Bu<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">rutu<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s9\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> Port to Onitsha River Port as final destination.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s11\"><span
