{"id":1736,"date":"2019-12-10T20:19:07","date_gmt":"2019-12-10T19:19:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shippingworld-ng.com\/?p=1736"},"modified":"2019-12-10T20:19:09","modified_gmt":"2019-12-10T19:19:09","slug":"ciota-to-professionalise-transport-administration-in-nigeria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shippingworld-ng.com\/index.php\/2019\/12\/10\/ciota-to-professionalise-transport-administration-in-nigeria\/","title":{"rendered":"CIoTA to Professionalise Transport Administration in Nigeria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>\u2026 Bello Says Infrastructure to Boost Transportation Sector<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nPresident of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration (CIoTA) Dr.\nBashir Yusuf Jamoh has said that the Institute is set to professionalise all\naspects of transportation industry in Nigeria for sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr.\nJamoh said this at the opening of a 3-Day National Transportation Summit\norganised by CIOTA at the Yar&#8217; Adua Centre in Abuja with the theme \u201cUnlocking\nthe Potentials of Transportation for Sustainable Development.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According\nto the CIoTA President, \u201cwith the recent assent of Mr. President recognizing\nthe Institute as the sole professional body in the transport industry, CIoTA\nwill engage all stakeholders to ensure that all those involved in transport\nadministration in Nigeria are certified to enhance professionalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\nalso disclosed that the institute&#8217;s plan to engage some graduate youths already\nmobilised for the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) as transport\nadministration volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According\nto him, the volunteer group will also work with other relevant government\nagencies like Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) in carrying out its activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\nadded that CIoTA would&nbsp;conduct research aimed at solving most of the\ntransport challenges in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Standardisation\nof Transport training geared towards enhanced professionalism, according to\nJamoh, will be done by the institute through upgrading curriculum of transport\ntraining schools and partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\nalso commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the recent groundbreaking launch\nof the University of Transportation&nbsp;in Daura and Katsina State and signing\nthe CIoTA Bill into law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also\nspeaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of Nigeria Shippers Council, Mr.\nHassan Bello, decried the absence of seamless links in the country&#8217;s transport\ninfrastructure while commending government efforts at getting them fixed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bello\nsaid&nbsp;there must be a link between economy and transportation in Nigeria if\nthe economy must move faster with its peers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According\nto him, CIoTA holds the answer to several of Nigeria&#8217;s lingering transport\nissues since it is organised, devoid of unhealthy rivalry and not having any\ndistraction like leadership tussles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nigeria,\nBello said, is in the era of diversification of national revenue sources and\nthe transport sector is supportive of other businesses including creation of\nmuch needed employments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\nsaid&nbsp;
