{"id":1733,"date":"2019-12-10T20:06:40","date_gmt":"2019-12-10T19:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shippingworld-ng.com\/?p=1733"},"modified":"2019-12-10T20:06:43","modified_gmt":"2019-12-10T19:06:43","slug":"attacked-vessel-nimasa-to-fast-track-maritime-security-architecture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shippingworld-ng.com\/index.php\/2019\/12\/10\/attacked-vessel-nimasa-to-fast-track-maritime-security-architecture\/","title":{"rendered":"Attacked Vessel: NIMASA to Fast Track Maritime Security Architecture"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<strong>Agency Working with\nRelevant Authorities on Abductees Release \u2013 Dakuku<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the wake of the recent attack on a tanker vessel named, \u2018Nave Constellation\u2019, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has disclosed its readiness to fast-track the maritime security architecture, just as the Director General of the Agency Dr. Dakuku Peterside stated that the Agency is working with relevant partners to ensure the crew onboard are secured and safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DG spoke in Abuja on Thursday, on the sidelines of the\nongoing National Transportation Summit organised by the Chartered Institute of\nTransport Administration of Nigeria (CIoTA), stating that the tanker was\nattacked off the coast of Bonny with nineteen persons alleged to have been\npicked up leaving nine crew members onboard the vessel. \u201cThe operators of the\nvessel made contact with NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy and we immediately went\nto work\u201d, he said.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He noted that the vessel owners had operated for ten days, within\nour territorial waters yet didn&#8217;t establish contact with the Harbour Masters.\nIt also didn&#8217;t establish contact with the authorities in Nigeria. \u201cHowever,\nthat isn&#8217;t an issue because life is more precious than any other consideration.\nWe have also immediately contacted the naval unit around that area and they\nhave gone to work.
