President of WISTA Nigeria, Mrs. Mary Madu\nHamman, said the donations were part of the organisation\u2019s drive to inspire\nmore women participation in the maritime industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hamman\nsaid she was in Aguleri with her team of WISTA officials to lend a hand in\ngrowing the trade of the fisher folks and encourage them to tap into the vast\nopportunities in the maritime industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>According to her, \u201cNigeria is concerned about the women\nin Aguleri community who are known for fishing and marketing. WISTA is proud to\nassociate with them and also help them grow their business activities. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u201cThe maritime sector has a lot of opportunities yet to\nbe tapped into by women.\u201d <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She\nstressed the need for women in Aguleri community to send their daughters to\nschool and also encouraged them to study courses relevant to the maritime\nindustry so that they could tap into the resources in the maritime industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nWISTA Nigeria president, who is also Assistant Director, Shipping Promotion, at\nthe Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), commended the\nAgency\u2019s efforts, under the Dr. Dakuku Peterside-led management, to support\nwomen in the maritime industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"980\" height=\"980\" src=\"https:\/\/shippingworld-ng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mary-Hamman-at-Aguleri.jpg\" alt=\"Mary Hamman\" class=\"wp-image-1670\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shippingworld-ng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mary-Hamman-at-Aguleri.jpg 980w, https:\/\/shippingworld-ng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mary-Hamman-at-Aguleri-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/shippingworld-ng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mary-Hamman-at-Aguleri-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/shippingworld-ng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mary-Hamman-at-Aguleri-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/shippingworld-ng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mary-Hamman-at-Aguleri-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\" \/><figcaption>Mary Hamman at Aguleri<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNIMASA\nhas been a huge support and dependable ally for WISTA and women in the maritime\nindustry generally,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hamman\nstated further, <strong><em>\u201cThis is not the first time that WISTA Nigeria is\nempowering women. Similar gestures have been carried out in Epe, Lagos State,\nand in Oron, Akwa Ibom State. These are all geared towards ensuring that the\nlives of women are touched.
