{"id":1383,"date":"2019-08-04T22:31:16","date_gmt":"2019-08-04T21:31:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shippingworld-ng.com\/?p=1383"},"modified":"2019-08-04T22:37:23","modified_gmt":"2019-08-04T21:37:23","slug":"fg-orders-iocs-to-clear-debt-owed-stevedoring-firms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shippingworld-ng.com\/index.php\/2019\/08\/04\/fg-orders-iocs-to-clear-debt-owed-stevedoring-firms\/","title":{"rendered":"FG Orders IOC\u2019s To Clear Debt Owed Stevedoring Firms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By Tola Adenubi <\/strong><br> <br> The Federal Government has ordered the International Oil Companies (IOC) to clear all outstanding debt being owed stevedoring firms in the nation\u2019s maritime sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Disclosing this to the Tribune Online exclusively on Sunday, President of the National Association of Stevedoring Companies (NASC), Bolaji Sunmola who attended the meeting held in Abuja last Wednesday explained that the IOC\u2019s have been given a timeline to comply with the laws of the land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NASC President said, \u201cyou know that the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is mandated by law to appoint stevedoring firms at the nation\u2019s seaports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe stevedoring firms being owed by the IOC\u2019s were duly appointed by the NPA, and so refusal to pay the stevedoring firms monies belonging to the maritime workers by the IOC\u2019s is a breach of the laws of the land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe were there last Wednesday in Abuja during the meeting called by the Federal Ministry of Transportation (FMOT).
