Indisputable facts have emerged why the Federal Government, through the office of the Head of Service of the Federation recalled the incumbent Secretary General of the Maritime Organisation of West and Central African, MOWCA, Dr Paul Adilakwu.
Impeccable sources at the office of the Head of Service Federation, confided in Shipping World magazine that the former scribe of the apex regional ports regulatory body was not only accused of financial impropriety in the two years he held sway at the organization, he was also said have been collecting salary as an employee of the Federal Government whilst on a leave of absence since 2021 when he assumed duties at the regional body . Said my source: ” Apart from incidents of financial impropriety leveled against him by the Chair MOWCA ,you wont believe that Dr Adilakwu still collected his full salary as an employee of the Federal Government.
This in itself is a criminal offence which carries a heavy weight of the law”, my source further revealed. All attempts to have Dr Adilakwu comment on the allegations were rebuffed. He neither picked his calls nor responded to whatsapp messages by our correspondent. Dr Adilakwu was elected in a strongly contested election on November 19, 2021 as the Secretary General of the regional body
